For the first time ever, The Benny Mayhem Band is bringing their Youth Music Workshop program to Perth after 25 hugely successful events in Regional WA.

This is NOT a regular music lesson! This afternoon immersed in music is designed to not only inspire young people but to actually give them practical steps they can take to have their own career in the music industry.

The Youth Music Workshop

From 1pm the band will run a 90 minute Youth Workshop (VIP ticket holders from 11am). This isn’t designed to teach how to play instruments (although the band will be doing some of that) as much as it is going to take them on a journey through what it means and takes to have a career in music, even from your bedroom.

Kids and Teenagers will get to play instruments set up at the front of the venue. Drums, Bass, Guitar and Vocals will all be part of the experience, with members of the Benny Mayhem Band offering one-on-one instruction for each instrument.

These instruments will be “live” so they can get the real experience of playing on stage and the feeling of what it would be like. The band have completed these workshops for more than 15% of all WA local government bodies and many of the kids have gone on to really begin their musical journey from there.

Please note that kids who attend do not need ANY musical experience at all. The object is to inspire them and show them how they can have a path to a professional music career from their hometown, no matter what stage they’re at now.

Here’s just some of the things that are part of the workshops:

• Play Guitar, Bass & Drums On Stage – no experience required
• Learn how to write songs
• Learn about the steps you can take for your own music career
• Learn how to record cheaply at home and still make world-class music
• Learn better singing techniques
• Learn what traps not to fall into
• Even learn how to market your music

The Program’s Success

For the past 18 months, the band has been running Youth Music Programs from Albany to Onslow, from Yalgoo to Karratha with great success.

Many of the students have taken inspiration and advice for these workshops to kick-start their careers already. You could be next!

Tickets are priced 100% at kids prices so parents and other guardians can attend without paying full adult ticket prices.

Benny Mayhem Band Concert

After a short break, the band will then play a 75 minute concert with full seating for 200 people as part of the ticket price.

This is another important part of the workshop at the kids will be able to now visualise themselves as part of a band and see what they have learned all fall into place. Opportunities will exist for kids to help with mixing, sound engineering and even lighting. They will be a part of the show.

The band plays from its current album (listen to the album here), along with covers from some of the world’s best artists including Oasis, Nirvana, Grinspoon, Johnny Cash, The Ramones, Crowded House and tons of your favourites from Oz, The UK and The US. Please note that while the album contains some language, this will be a G-rated show and any explicit lyrics will be replaced with their family friendly versions.

The Benny Mayhem Band are popular all over WA due to a relentless touring schedule taking them to almost every corner of the state and even overseas. Their new album “Bootlegs” is out now and the recording process will be part of each workshop
